Season 1967/68. A golden age of English Football cards begins. With the World Cup victory fresh in their minds a number of companies try to capture the imagination of their customers with a variety of offerings. The first ever English FKS stickers appeared, destined for a distinguished history.
A&BC Gum
Star Players. A small set of colourful cards, sometimes referred to as 'Black backs'. No checklists. This card size is regarded as the standard size for A&BC football cards.

Set size: 55. Click for set gallery.

Checklists: Set checklist or Team checklist.

Pin-ups of England's Stars. An attractive set of 'pin-up' posters given away in the packets of Star Players. Since these pin-ups were squeezed into the bubble gum packets they always have the creases.

Set size: 12. Click for set gallery.

Checklists: Set checklist or Team checklist.

John Barr
Footballers. All of the players in this set are Scottish, so perhaps they are misplaced on this website, but they are attractive cards.

Each card has 'A J.B. Production (Copyright)' printed at the base.

Set size: 16

Barratt & Co.
Famous Footballers (Series A.15). Unfortunately the last in this series of 50 attractively coloured sweet cigarette cards, issued by Barratt & Co Ltd, London. Cards printed in England. After the issue of this set Barratt's took a break from football cards for a few years.

FKS Publishers
The Wonderful World of Soccer Stars. This rarest of all FKS football albums and stickers. The stickers are readily identifiable through the backs which have the player name and club, but no other printing including no number. The album has the same cover as the 1968/69 album, and many of the stickers have the same images as the 1968/69 set.

The stickers do not indicate that they should only be stuck at the top, so most were stuck completely down in albums. There was no writing in the space for each sticker in the albums, so nothing much was lost except that you won't find many of these stickers 'ex-album'. The album, and therefore the stickers, are full of errors and omissions e.g. surnames only, misspellings etc.

Set size: 330. Teams: Arsenal, Burnley, Chelsea, Coventry City, Everton, Fulham, Leeds United, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Stoke City, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Album: Price 3s 6d.

Fleetway
Lion and Champion Album of Soccer Stars. Sheets of small black and white stickers included in the Lion and Champion comic of the time. The stickers, 110 in total, could be cut out and placed into the album.

Set size: 110

Checklists: Set checklist and Team checklist

Roy Race Album of Football Club Badges. Sheets of small black and white stickers included with the Tiger and Hurricane comic of the time. The sheets included 15 badges each, which makes me wonder how you get a total of 110?

The stickers, 110 in total, could be cut out and placed into the album.

Set size: 110

Typhoo Tea
International Football Stars, 1st series. The cards were able to be cut from the side of the tea packets. The quality of the cards therefore depends a lot on the person who cut them out, since this dictates how much of the packet was included, and how neat the borders will be. Some people cut them out with the accompanying text, while others cut around the picture only.

International Football Stars, 1st series, Colour Pictures. If you collected any 12 of the tea packet cards you could send them away to Typhoo Tea and obtain a 10" x 8" colour photo of your favourite team, 'suitable for framing'.
