Bassett's, founded by George Bassett in 1842, is the maker of Liquorice Allsorts, Jelly Babies and Sherbet Fountains. The company was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes in 1989 (information from http://www.cadburyschweppes.com). Having taken over Barratt & Co. in 1969 Bassett's appears to have allowed them to continue producing sweets and cards in the original name, until Bassett's finally produced their own cards in 1974 (through their 'Barratt Division'). Bassett's continue to produce football cards today, under the name Trebor Bassett (from the UK company Cadbury Trebor Bassett). Barratt and Bassett's are amongst the more prolific and reliable football card makers, having produced annual sets of cards almost continuously since the early 1950s.
