Brazil were virtually unstoppable in this World Cup. With Pele playing in his fourth and final World Cup, plus the likes of Jairzinho, Tostao, and Rivelino it was going to be hard to see them beaten.
Playing in Group C, Brazil qualified after wins over Czechoslovakia 4-1, England 1-0 and Rumania 3-2. When you look at these and Brazil's other results in the tournament you realise that England did quite well to limit them to a single goal. Brazil knocked off Peru 4-2 in the quarter finals, Uruguary 3-1 in the semis, and then Italy 4-1 in the Final. What a brilliant scoring record, averaging more than three goals per game!
Brazil's scorers: Jairzinho (6), Pele (4), Rivelino (3), Tostao (2), Clodoaldo, Gerson, Carlos Alberto.
