Nigel's season summary: For the second of three consecutive seasons Burnley were to finish in 14th place in Division One, but conceded a worrying 85 goals.

Player who played his whole career with Burnley, commencing in 1955. League debut in September 1856. He finished playing in 1971. Began his Burnley playing career in 1962 and played over 200 games before moving on to Chesterfield in 1972. Returned to Turf Moor later in life as head groundsman. Struggled to make first team squad at Burnley, moving on to Portsmouth in April 1970. Known as a 'hard man' for his uncompromising tackling style. Transferred to Halifax in June 1968, and therefore never appeared for Burnley in the 1968/69 season. Later involved with Wrexham in a development role. Bought from Rotherham in June 1967 Frank Casper played out the remainder of his career at Burnley. His son, born in Burnley, was a trainee at Manchester United in the early 1990s.

Had a long career with Burnley before his transfer to Tottenham in May 1971. Member of England's 1970 Mexico World Cup Squad, though not included in final squad of 22. Burnley player since early 1960s but league debut in 1965. He played almost 150 games for Burnley before moving on to Plymouth Argyle in July 1971. Powerful forward who moved to Leicester City in October 1968 after more than 200 Burnley appearances with over 100 goals. Apparently still at Burnley as a match-day host. Made almost 100 appearances for Burnley in a career lasting from 1964 to 1970. Later into management and sports commentating. Winger who enjoyed two spells at Turf Moor. Transferred to Manchester United in August 1968, then returned to Burnley in 1975.

Burnley 'hard man' who made his league debut in April 1963. Played over 200 games before a May 1971 transfer to Southampton. League debut in November 1963. Managed 83 appearances for Burnley in 5 seasons before a May 1970 transfer to Portsmouth. Played only 13 games for Burnley before a June 1971 transfer to Southend. His brother, Stan, played for Burnley from 1966 to 1968 and later returned as Manager. Edinburgh-born keeper in his last season at Burnley before a move to Blackpool. Signed from Chelsea in July 1967, Waldron went on to make over 300 appearances for Burnley before moving on to Manchester United in 1976.
